Disney Food Friday - Onion Rings from 50's Prime Time Cafe

Interesting fact about me. I hate onions. I will pick them off any sandwich or veggie burger I eat. I will pick around them should they find their way into my pasta or rice. However if you deep fry them I will happily eat more than my fair share. I didn't say this fact would make sense. (I probably lied about the interesting part too but I had to get you to read this somehow).

On our recent visit to 50's Prime Time Cafe I was in a fried food kinda mood so we ordered the onion rings as an appetizer. They were awesome. Some onion rings can be nothing but batter. These guys were perfectly crispy, not soggy at all.

Add a cherry coke to the mix and I was in heaven.

On a side note, I once again had the vegetarian multigrain pasta for dinner so that canceled out the onion rings. Right?

Accessible Attractions - Kilimanjaro Safari

Kilimanjaro Safari is one of my favorite attractions at Walt Disney World. No safari is ever the same so its fun to ride multiple times on your vacation if you can. It is also a wheelchair friendly attraction and is easy to board.

You enter through the standard queue or FASTPASS line. There is an area for stroller parking but if you have the tag that identifies your stroller as a wheelchair you can take it with you to the wheelchair loading area. The wheelchair loading area is separate from the regular loading area. It is to the right. A Cast Member is always there to point you in the right direction.

Below is a picture of the ramp that leads up to the jeep. Once the jeep is parked, the ramp at the top is lowered, and you just roll on. There are is plenty of room and members of your party can sit with you.

A Cast Member will then strap your chair in. The safari can get pretty bumpy but I have always felt really secure and I've never had any problems with my wheelchair moving around. There are two handles, one on each side, that you can also use to support yourself.

Like I said before, each safari is different and the animals you encounter will vary. We were really lucky on our last trip. If you are visiting during the summer months I would recommend going in the early morning. Once the Florida heat sets in the animals tend to be less active. I also recommend going in the rain. The jeep keeps you dry, unless its a downpour, and we got some really great photos. Our second safari was in the morning and we were able to see some animals that we missed the first time around.

Once your safari is over, the jeep will take you back to the same area where you boarded. A Cast Member will unstrap your chair and then you leave via the same ramp.

Wednesday in the World - The Maharajah Jungle Trek

One of the best places to discover the details of Disney is along the Maharajah Jungle Trek at Disney's Animal Kingdom. This is one of my favorite spots at Walt Disney World, not just because of the animals, but because of the rich detail and themeing.

Magical Blogorail - Hidden Mickeys

Welcome to those of you joining me from Heidi's Head and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail.

When I first found out about the topic this month, Hidden Mickeys, I had no idea what I was going to write. I know (very little) about the subject but I have never read the book nor I have really done any research on the topic. So what was this Hidden Mickey newbie to do?

1. Rely on Luck
We had a Disney trip planned between learning about the topic and having to write the post. I decided that I would just find some hidden Mickeys while I was there and write about them. First thing I learned, they are called hidden for a reason. Luckily we stayed at the Beach Club and we found this guy on our way to Beaches & Cream one night.

2. Cheat
The second thing I learned, kids love looking for hidden Mickeys. Eventually you will luck upon a group of kids who are excited about having found one. After they leave, take a photo of said hidden Mickey and pretend you found it all on your own. We "found" this hidden Mickey at the Haunted Mansion.

So there you have it. With a little luck and some pixie dust (cheating is such a harsh term) you too can find some Hidden Mickeys.

Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is A Glass Slipper Vacation.

Here is the map of our Magical Blogorail should you happen to have to make a stop along the way and want to reboard:

1st Stop ~ Focused on the Magic
2nd Stop ~ Heidi’s Head
3rd Stop ~ Disney on Wheels
4th Stop ~ A Glass Slipper Vacation
Final Stop ~ Your Highway in the Sky

Disney's Beach Club Villas Review, Part 2

For part one of our review and a look at our one bedroom villa click here.

This was our first stay at Disney's Beach Club Villas and we had a wonderful time. The resort is beautiful and has a very relaxing vibe. And I cannot even begin to describe how good the lobby smells.

The Beach Club Villas share several amenities with the Beach Club Resort. You check in at the main lobby, have access to the gift shop and dining locations, and you can use the main pool Stormalong Bay.

The Villas have their own entrance (photo at the top of the review) and a lobby of sorts. There are also two nice seating areas on the main level, one with a television, that you can relax (I never saw many people there) and they are good spots to meet up with people. There is also a separate parking lot for the Villas. We drove to most of the parks and never had a problem finding a close spot. This could be because it was a slower time of the year though.

The Beach Club Villas also have their own quiet pool and hot tub. Both were accessible, there were steps that you could use to slowly lower yourself into the pool. Towels were provided and there were also restrooms. While there isn't a bar or food location at the pool, if you didn't want to walk anywhere you could call the in room dining number and have food delivered.

I loved the Beach Club Marketplace. The gift shop had the usual items but the Cast Members were really friendly and helpful. The quick service food options were nice. We picked up a flatbread pizza for dinner one night and loved it. If you would like to see the menu, AllEars has one.

The best part of the Beach Club is the location. It was so nice being able to walk to Epcot. We went over there most nights for a few hours just because it was so close. A little tip, there is a hill which can be hard to roll up if you are in a wheelchair. To the right there is a path that is flat and makes things a lot easier. There is a gate so it may be closed at times but I never saw it closed off. Its a nice walk to next to the water and they have Epcot area music playing.

You can also walk to Hollywood Studios but the walk is longer, about 15 or 20 minutes. We took the Friendship Boats. Its a nice relaxing ride and they are also wheelchair friendly.

Overall we loved our stay at the Beach Club Villas and will definitely stay here again sometime. If you would like to see more photos of the resort head over to the Disney on Wheels Facebook page.

On Monday we shared part one of our review of Disney's Beach Club Villas

Wednesday in the World featured photos from our recent adventure on the Kilimanjaro Safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

We headed back to the Animal Kingdom for Disney Food Friday. The Royal Ananadapur Tea Company is one of my favorite spots to grab a snack and get my caffeine fix.

Using a Stroller as a Wheelchar

This article originally ran on Chip and Company.

Walt Disney World allows parents of special needs children to use a stroller as wheelchair. To help Cast Members differentiate your stroller from others, you can stop by Guest Relations at any of the parks and get a tag. This tag in conjunction with your Guest Assistance Card, will insure that your stroller is treated like it is a wheelchair allowing you to use special entrances as needed. It also means your child can stay in the stroller in queues when other strollers have to be parked. It also gives you access to the wheelchair seating at attractions and at parades.

Disney Food Friday - Royal Anandapur Tea Company

The Royal Anandapur Tea Company is located in Asia at Disney's Animal Kingdom across from the Yak & Yeti Restaurant. It's a great little place to grab breakfast, a snack, or to get something warm to drink after riding Kali River Rapids.

We stopped by one morning for breakfast and a caffeine fix after riding Expedition Everest. They have coffees, hot tea and iced teas along with hot chocolate and frozen drinks. Since they are now on the Disney Dining Plan you can use your snack credits for a drink or one of their pastries, muffins, or cookies. Food options tend to vary.

In addition to the hot teas above that you can have iced (you can have iced coffee too) there is also their specialty iced coffees English Breakfast, Red Raspberry, and Green Honey Ginseng.

Drew opted for a hot tea, Assam. I love that they make you your own tea bag after you order. I had the iced Green Honey Ginseng. It was described as having a subtle honey sweetness which was true. It didn't over power the taste of the green tea.

We also split a bear claw. It was huge. It was a nice cross between a donut and a cinnamon roll.

There is a seating area right in front of the Royal Anandapur Tea Company but there is a spot that tends to be a little more quiet to the right. There are a few tables and stools and the themeing of the area is beautiful.

This is one of our favorite spots to visit in the mornings. It is not usually very busy then since everyone is running to Expedition Everest but we also stopped by one evening (I'll write about that food later) and the lighting was beautiful.

Have you visited the Royal Anandapur Tea Company?
